SYNC 2 trucks keep the original radio and the original SYNC 2 module; the radio stays in the truck because it works together with the new system. Android 11 units don't need a T-harness and you don't remove the factory radio; the new harness plugs into the back of the SYNC 2 module. No backup camera signal? On SYNC 2 you may need to change the backup camera setting in the factory settings menu.

How do I set up wireless CarPlay or Android Auto?

Step 1: Disconnect and unpair your phone from the factory SYNC / Bluetooth, and keep it unpaired any time you use wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
Step 2: Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
Step 3: Connect to the new screen's Bluetooth. You'll find its name in the screen's Bluetooth menu.
Step 4: Open Z-Link from the top menu bar or the app list on the new screen.
Step 5: Follow the prompts on your phone; it will ask you to allow CarPlay.
Step 6: Enjoy!

Will I keep my factory functions if I install a Tesla-style screen?

Most, if not all, factory functions are retained.

Will my backup camera(s) still work on the screen?

Yes.

Can I install the screen myself?

Yes. Unless you're pretty handy and have watched all of the install videos for your truck, though, we recommend having a car audio shop (or a similar shop) install it. Plenty of them have installed these screens before.

When I change songs with the steering wheel controls during wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, the factory radio takes over for a moment. Can I fix that?

Yes. Plug a blank USB thumb drive into one of your factory USB ports. It loops the factory system and stops it from taking over.

There's a small red box in my package. Is it important?

Very. Install it, or the screen won't turn on; that little box is what makes the whole system work. Also make sure nothing from your factory harness or unit is left unplugged.

How do I adjust the audio quality?

We've got you.

  1. Installing the screen resets your audio settings to factory, so go back into your original console menus and set them the way you had them.
  2. Open the DSP app that comes installed on the screen. Adjust each setting one by one or start from a preset and build your own. Tweak it until it sounds right, then tap Save.
I'm getting no audio, but the screen shows my song playing.

Easy fix. Sometimes the factory console or SYNC turns its audio off. If the song is playing and the volume is up but you hear nothing, go back into your factory (OEM) menus and turn the audio back on.
